We took a moment to sit down with HIFIMAN's new HE-R10D dynamic closed-back headphone this week and thus far it's been a pure delight! This is a short review of our impressions and thoughts on this new model. The design of this headphone takes heavy inspiration from the classic Sony MDR-R10 and all in all I feel the HIFIMAN team have genuinely respected the legendary headphone. I've deeply enjoyed it's solid bass, smooth gorgeously open mid-range and airy top end.
Listening thru Pink Floyd's Wish you Were Here I found myself taken away by how stunningly beautiful David's vocals and guitars sounded. I usually expect this kind of tactility, air and tone from an open-back headphone so you can imagine my delight at hearing these superlative qualities in a closed back!
Not only that but it's impactful well textured bass, smooth crystal clear mid-range and top end sparkle paired amazingly well with a variety of rap, rock and classical music. Listening to Daft Punk's Get Lucky I found my self tap'n and grooving along to that funky bass lines all the while enjoying the beautiful tone of Pharrell William's voice. For those who enjoy a natural nuanced presentation we feel the HIFIMAN HE-R10D will delight.
